Dandies Paper Dolls Book feat. Patrick McDonald

Submitted by on Monday, 6 September 2010No Comment

Dandies, those rare males who dress to thrill, are the subject of a new book of paper doll illustrations by Jim Howard, featuring four famous gents in their fabulous and fastidious outfits that you can dress (and undress) in daring sartorial splendor!

The first famous dandy is Beau Brummell, the Englishman whose persnickety style was so splendid that it drove him from royal flavor to bankruptcy. He favored simple elegance and meticulous tailoring. Oscar Wilde, the 19th Century literary genius dressed in romantic fashion with a codified green carnation that declared his then-illegal sexual preference. The Duke of Windsor caused a major scandal in 1936 when he abdicated the English throne to marry the American divorcee he loved. His signature style mixed pinstripes and checks, and the way he knotted his necktie became a standard mark in mens dressing.

Today’s modern dandy is reflected in New York fashion writer, scenester and reality star (from Bravo TV’s Launch My Line) Patrick McDonald. In his vivid and studied style, theatrical make-up and swaggering air, he is constantly photo documented and interviewed. Get your copy now at PaperDoll Review!
