2011 NYC Pride March

It’s that time again!!! Put on yr best frock, tap pants, and cha cha Louboutins and strut yr stuff down Fifth Ave for the annual Pride March! It all began in 1970 as an annual civil rights demonstration, beginning the year after the Stonewall Riots (and Judy Garland’s death). Over the years, the parades purpose has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those we have lost to the illness, violence and neglect. It has also evolved to include being a celebration of our lives and our community. After, check out Dance on Pier (Pier 25 at West Side Highway) with DJs Lina, Vito Fun and Anna Paula.

March begins at Fifth Ave and 36th St and ends on Christopher St at Greenwich St, NYC, 212-807-7433, 12 noon, free, nycpride.org
