Ever wonder what happens in the club after 4am (New York clubs that is!)? NYC’s infamous underground queer party My Chiffon Is Wet gives us a glimpse into their weekly soiree by way of über cool video “My Chiffon Is Wet vs Lady Gaga: Do What You Want”. The black & white reel, shot by director Santiago Felipe, focuses more on the theatrical members of the NYC collective MCW (who have co-opted Guy Hocquenghem’s gay mantra…”Our assholes are revolutionary…revolt sistas!) than on the partygoers. Felipe uses mostly close-up shots, which attempt to give the viewer a more direct relationship and connection to a subcultural group of queens who are use to using hair and make up to mask their disenfranchisement. Featured here…resident DJ and pop culture blogger Paisley Dalton, showgirls Leo Gugu & Ruby Roo, and an awesome cameo by MCW regular…Tony Award winner Alan Cumming– “MCW is what I think people mean when they talk about the good old days of New York. People of all ages and sexualities and genders are dancing and dressing up and performing and talking and having fun. And everyone is kind. It doesn’t get much better than this!”
