The Voice ( After Mercedes McCambridge)

The Creative Time project presents a series of events and lectures expressing the infinite shades of the voice. Tonight’s homage to Mercedes McCambride- the dubbed-in voice of the demonically possessed character in 70’s horror flick The Exorcist– showcases works from UK experimental artist No Bra, performing tracks from current album Dance and Walk, ex-Throbbing Gristle member P-Orridge raping pop culture, NYC graffiti artist Rammellzee revising language in society, and author Ian Svenonius of Psychic Soviet expounding on politics. Check out No Bra solo on Wednesday 05.28 at The Cock.

New York Society for Ethical Culture, Main Hall, 2 West 64th St at Central Park West, 212-874-5210, 8pm, free, www.creativetime.org/heyhey

Salvation

From the cradle bars comes a beckoning voice, it sends you spinning….You have no choice!!! Sounds like an invitation to put on your best Kryolan white-face and contemplate the meaning of your pathetic existence. Tonight, Albion DJs Patrick and Cyn continue their fortnightly fest of deathrock, EBM, dark dance, and goth.

It’s a groovy night of favorites, plus hits from their recent album Tied and True. The Teenage Prayers and The Milwaukees support.
