Happy Birthday 2 Ya “Pam Grier”
Pamela Suzette Grier, aka Pam Grier, born May 26, 1949, is an actress, best known as the QUEEN of 1970s blaxploitation films, beginning with her starring role in the 1973 film Coffy. She is considered to be the first African-American female to headline an action film, a position previously held only by men. After the success of Coffy, she continued her reign in similar films, including Sheba, Foxy Brown and Friday Foster. In the late 90s, Grier made a huge comeback in Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown, where she garnered a whole new fan base, and tons of awards! In the 2000s, she played Kit Porter in the Showtime hit series The L Word– a drama portraying the lives of a group of lesbians and their friends, connections, family, and lovers. In 2010, Grier wrote her memoir, Foxy: My Life in Three Acts, with Andrea Cagan.
