David Johansen
SATURDAY 28
Former lead singer of 70s glam punk band The New York Dolls David Johansen is now trading under his own name. After the drug induced breakdown of The Dolls, Johansen went rogue, playing bluesy rock and Jazz as a one man shown known as Buster Poindexter. Now, he’s in and out of reunion shows for NYD, as well as a second wind solo career. Tonight’s show is being called “An Evening With David Johansen”. “I’ve been wanting to play a bunch of songs that I don’t normally get the opportunity to sing in a loud and fast DOLLS show. As much as I love that, I also like to explore the more soulful side of singing,” Johansen said. “I’ll be singing songs from throughout my career and maybe some songs that have inspired me in a mellow and intimate setting. I think it’s going to be beautiful, and a cool way to start the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.”
