Damien D’Luxe

Age: 33

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

“I am a non-binary, POC drag king that has been performing for 15 years. Most of my performances take place in Minneapolis at my home bar LUSH, where I am a cast member of the weekly queer burlesque show called Black Hearts Burlesque and #dragrevolution, the headlining drag show at LUSH. I also perform regularly with a production called Flip Phone that does both weekend, themed drag brunches and evening shows. My drag has really grown a lot over the past few years. When I first started, there weren’t many drag kings, social media didn’t exist and most of the general public didn’t take drag kings seriously (which is sometimes still a challenge). After being cast at LUSH, I was really pushed to continue to grow as a drag artist, improve my make up skills and costuming. Today, I would say I am best known for my transformative makeup, over-the-top costumes, and cosplay characters. I like performing a lot of different styles whether it be comedy, striptease, pop & lock dancing, and darker numbers. My main tagline is the ‘bodacious beefcake’ of the Twin Cities.
While drag has recently become a full-time job for me (which I am very thankful for), my main job is owning/running a local tattoo shop in Minneapolis called Jackalope Tattoo. My shop employs solely female and non-binary identifying artists. Our mission is to provide a safe environment for people of all walks of life…but especially for women, POC and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have been tattooing for 8.5 years and am so fortunate to be able to make a living off of art forms that I am passionate about.
Outside of work I love to stay active with working out, paddle boarding and snowboarding. I also just love spending time at home with my wife and pets (We have a small zoo with 4 cats and two dogs!). My life is insanely busy between my multiple jobs and home life, but I truly love everything that I do.”
