FRIDAY 7

Search and Destroy: Iggy and the Stooges ‘Raw Power’

In this brand new documentary, Iggy Pop and other members of the Stooges relive the making of Raw Power, considered one of the most influential rock albums of all time. As Iggy tells it, in 1973 The Stooges could barely get a gig, but an audience hungry for the burgeoning punk movement made it clear that the energy of the band was exactly what was needed. Interviews with the likes of Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders) and Johnny Marr (The Smiths & Modest Mouse) reiterate the continuing importance of the album. Featuring rare photographs as well as live footage, Search and Destroy provides an insider’s look at this great band. After the screening, photographer Mick Rock discusses what went on behind-the-scenes.

Girls & Boys: Chromeo’s Dave 1 + N.A.S.A.

Favorite bar mitzvah duo Chromeo single-handedly brought back the authenticity of 8os dance music with synth-funk singles like Bonafied Lovin and Tenderoni. Tonight, the hip hop side of the group Dave 1 does a DJ set that will probably include lots of his favs like Boys Noise, Hall and Oats, Michael Jackson and Billy Joel…not very hip hop, but definitely party poppin!

All Leather + The Death Set

West Coast band All Leather remind us of the good ol’ days, wanking up at 4pm in East Berlin, no job, no cares and lots of 9 inch punk pussy boys to choose from, sun bathing sans pants in Tiergarten, hoping for a spot in the next Bruce LaBruce flick. Check out their mix of thrash, electro and faux faggotry antics tonite with support band The Death Set.
