Rex The Dog is electronic musician Jake Williams and a dog called Rex.

Back in 2004 Jake read in a magazine about a synthesizer from 1974, the Korg 700S, which was used by Daniel Miller (founder of Mute Records) to make the record ‘Warm Leatherette’. Already fascinated by old syntheszsers, Jake tracked down his own Korg and started to learn how it worked.

Shortly after, Jake made a track called ‘Prototype’ using only sounds from this synth and then a second song ‘We Live In Daddy’s Car’ also using just sounds from the Korg.

Teaming up with Rex, Jake released these first tracks as a 12” record with the German electronic label KOMPAKT.

Five more 12” singles followed, ‘Frequency’, ‘Maximize’, ‘Circulate’, ‘I Can See You Can You See Me?’ and ‘Bubblicious’. After this, they released their first album ‘The Rex The Dog Show’.

During this first phase, Jake and Rex produced remixes for other bands including The Knife, The Prodigy, Soulwax and Depeche Mode…later on they made remixes for Fever Ray, Tiga and Aeroplane.
