It’s Broadway, B*tch!!!: Drag Fabulist Dickie Beau’s US Premiere “Blackouts”
THIS IS THE MOST!!! UK-based drag artist Dickie Beau is coming to NYC, as part of FIAF’s 2016 Crossing The Line Festival, in the US premiere of BLACKOUTS, reinterpreting classic lip-synching styles by using pre-recorded monologues…think the legendary Lypsinka and Lady Bunny, with a Royal Vauxhall Tavern queerness. Beau conjures the spirits of his childhood idols, including Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland, to create a uniquely personal theatrical experience. The resulting “digital script” incorporates found source material, visual invention and gorgeous stagecraft resulting in a portrait of icons in exile, not only from society, but from themselves. Dickie Beau: Blackouts runs October 6–8 & 13–15 at 7:30pm, Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand Street, NYC. Get your tickets HERE, and watch an interview with Dickie Beau below!
