At its core is\u00a0<em>Aten Reign<\/em>(2013), a major new project that recasts the Guggenheim rotunda as an enormous volume filled with shifting artificial and natural light. One of the most dramatic transformations of the museum ever conceived, the installation reimagines\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.guggenheim.org\/new-york\/about\/frank-lloyd-wright-building\">Frank Lloyd Wright\u2019s iconic architecture<\/a>\u2014its openness to nature, graceful curves, and magnificent sense of space\u2014as one of Turrell\u2019s\u00a0<em>Skyspaces<\/em>, referencing in particular his magnum opus the\u00a0<em>Roden Crater Project<\/em>\u00a0(1979\u2013\u00a0). Reorienting visitors\u2019 experiences of the rotunda from above to below,\u00a0<em>Aten Reign<\/em>gives form to the air and light occupying the museum\u2019s central void, proposing an entirely new experience of the building.
