Broadway actor, drag performer and creator of one-woman show Genderosity<\/a> Donald Shorter (A Chorus Line\/La Cage Aux Folles) was the latest to be interviewed on PBS\u2019 First Person<\/a> series- exploring sexuality and gender identity, hosted by\u00a0LGBTQ YouTuber Kristin Russo<\/a>. In this episode, Shorter gives insight into his drag process, the inspiration for Genderosity, and the issues he has faced, not fitting into the \u2018hypermasculine mold\u2019 often propagated in the gay scene in NYC.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of internalized homophobia in the gay scene. There seems to be this notion that however \u2018straight-acting\u2019 you are, there are so many rewards that present themselves in society for that. The more linked you are to a cisgendered, heterosexual male, the hotter you are! That just doesn\u2019t make any sense.\u201d<\/p>\n
