A Houston man will be\u00a0sentenced to life in prison after being found\u00a0guilty Wednesday of\u00a0brutally murdering\u00a0his daughter and her girlfriend in a possible anti-gay hate crime\u00a0in 2014<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Houston Chronicle<\/em><\/a> reports:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe deserves the death penalty,\u201d said his cousin, Scott Cavitt, 35, of Houston. Other family members declined comment, but Cavitt was convinced of Cosby\u2019s guilt.<\/p>\n

A Galveston County jury heard seven days of testimony, then deliberated for three hours before convicting Cosby \u2026<\/p>\n

Prosecutors were never able to provide jurors with a motive, but Cavitt said Cosby was jealous that his daughter had a job and had recently purchased an SUV while he was forced to live with his mother.<\/p>\n

The bodies of Cosby and Jackson were found near a Dumpster outside a convenience store in Galveston County in March 2014.\u00a0Autopsy results showed Cosby died from blunt force trauma to the head, and Jackson \u2014 who had a 5-year-old daughter \u2014 died from a gunshot wound.<\/p>\n

Following James Cosby\u2019s arrest, Brittney Cosby\u2019s mother\u00a0told KHOU<\/a>\u00a0that he \u201cdidn\u2019t like the idea of her being gay.\u201d Cosby\u2019s mother also told the\u00a0The Houston Chronicle<\/em><\/a>:\u00a0\u201cHe would throw it in her face,\u201d adding that her daughter quoted James Cosby as saying, \u201cDon\u2019t throw that gay (expletive) around in this house.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition, Houston civil rights activist\u00a0Quanell X, who was advising the family in the wake of the murder, told\u00a0Fox 26<\/a>\u00a0he \u201cfound writings about homosexuality on Cosby\u2019s Koran indicating he may have had an issue with his daughter\u2019s sexual orientation.\u201d<\/p>\n
