Pamela Suzette Grier, aka Pam Grier<\/strong>, born May 26, 1949,\u00a0is an actress, best known as the QUEEN of 1970s\u00a0 blaxploitation films, beginning with her starring role in the 1973 film Coffy<\/strong><\/a>. She\u00a0is considered to be the first African-American female to headline an action film, \u00a0a position previously held only by men. After the success of Coffy, she continued her reign in similar films, including Sheba<\/strong>, Foxy Brown<\/strong> and Friday Foster<\/strong>. In the late 90s, Grier made a huge comeback in\u00a0Quentin Tarantino’s<\/strong> Jackie Brown<\/strong><\/a>, where she garnered a whole new fan base, and tons of awards! In the 2000s, she played Kit Porter in the Showtime hit series The L Word<\/strong>– a drama\u00a0portraying the lives of a group of lesbians and their friends, connections, family, and lovers.\u00a0In 2010, Grier wrote her memoir, Foxy: My Life in Three Acts<\/strong><\/a>, with Andrea Cagan.<\/p>\n
