NYC-based queer artist\u00a0Blood Orange<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0aka\u00a0Dev Hynes<\/strong>, has just dropped\u00a0two new visuals for\u00a0singles\u00a0Charcoal Baby\u00a0<\/strong>(dir.\u00a0Crack Stevens<\/a>)\u00a0and\u00a0Jewelry<\/strong>, featuring\u00a0transgender rights activist\u00a0Janet Mock<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0off forthcoming album\u00a0Negro Swan<\/strong>\u00a0(August 24). \u201cMy newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer\/people of color. A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all. The underlying thread through each piece on the album is the idea of hope, and the lights we can try to turn on within ourselves with a hopefully positive outcome of helping others out of their darkness.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
