Ice Cold: An Exhibition of Hip-Hop Jewelry<\/strong> <\/em>celebrates hip-hop’s cultural influence through stunning jewelry worn by some of its iconic stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlights include Slick Rick\u2019s gem-encrusted crown, the Notorious B.I.G.\u2019s legendary gold \u2018Jesus piece,\u2019 the diamond-studded Roc-A-Fella medallion for the record label co-founded by Jay-Z<\/strong>, Nicki Minaj\u2019s<\/strong> sparkling \u2018Barbie\u2019 pendant, and pieces from Erykah Badu<\/strong>, A$AP Rocky<\/strong>, Joey Bada$$<\/strong>, A$AP Ferg<\/strong>, and Tyler, the Creator<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building on New York City\u2019s celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop as a global phenomenon, Ice Cold <\/em>will highlight the evolution of jewelry in hip-hop over the past five decades, starting with oversized gold chains embraced by rap\u2019s pioneers in the 1980s and moving through the 1990s, when emcees turned business moguls sported record label pendants sparkling with diamonds and platinum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition will be on view in the Melissa and Keith Meister Gallery, within the Museum\u2019s new Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals<\/a>, and is included with all admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
