“United in Anger: A History of ACT UP” Film
World Premiere TONIGHT at MOMA…
2012. USA. Directed by Jim Hubbard. United in Anger is the first feature-length documentary to explore ACT UP (the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) from a historical perspective, recounting how a small group of men and women of all races and classes came together to save each other’s lives. The film follows the planning and execution of exhilarating demonstrations and other actions that spurred the U.S. government and mainstream media to respond to the AIDS crisis. The group’s complex culture emerges through affinity groups and new approaches to civil disobedience mingled with profound grief and courage. 93 min.
