#NationalYouthHIV&AIDSAwarenessDay: Mykki Blanco Defies Her Diagnosis in “Hideaway” Visual
Queer artist Mykki Blanco confronts the stigma that HIV positive people deal with in new visual Hideaway. Released in observance of National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day, in collaboration with W Magazine and amfAR, Blanco looks back on her own diagnosis five years ago, and how being HIV positive has not defined her. Watch her narrate a scene depicting herself in a toxic relationship that she can’t seem to break free from. Hideaway, from Mykki Blanco’s latest album Mykki, is out now on iTunes.
Mykki Blanco:
“Today is National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day. As an artist living healthily today with HIV, I feel blessed that you all as fans, supporters and friends have continued to encourage me and enjoy my work and the music I create without judging me for my status and recognizing it does not define who I am as a person or an artist.”
