QxBxRx (Queers, Beers, and Rears)
SATURDAY 6
Back in the 90s, we got an eyeful (as well as other orifices) from a psychotic, punk rock drag queen, singing Toilet Love, at NYC’s Downtown trash rock party Squeezebox. The “lady” was the legendary Jayne County. What she lacked in pitch, she totally redeemed in shambolic stage antics. That was a long time ago…and we had pretty much given up on anything “alternative” coming out of New York since the Sex and The City clones moved in with all their pathetic designer looks and desperate attitudes. Luckily, QxBxRx has saved the day! Pure queer punk raunch with queer DJs, queer bands and a stand-up queer audience…and sometimes on all fours! Live performances tonight by Little Victory, High Teen Boogie (pictured), Edie Sedgwick and World Famous *BOB*.
Cake Shop, 152 Ludlow St bet Rivington and Stanton Sts, NYC, 212-253-0036, 10pm, $8, www.myspace.com/qxbxrx
