Eighth Annual Trans Day of Action

Today, TGNC People of Color and allies will take on the streets of New York City once again and demand justice to let the World know that the Stonewall rebellion is not over and to continue fighting for justice.  Trans and Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) community and friends from many movements rally to raise awareness and visibility. Mermaid Parade

A completely original creation of Coney Island USA, the Mermaid Parade is the nation’s largest art parade and one of New York City’s greatest summer events. It celebrates the sand, the sea, the salt air and the beginning of summer, as well as the history and mythology of Coney Island, Coney Island pride, and artistic self-expression. The Parade is characterized by participants dressed in hand-made costumes as Mermaids, Neptunes, various sea creatures, the occasional wandering lighthouse, Coney Island post card or amusement ride, as well as antique cars, marching bands, drill teams, and the odd yacht pulled on flatbed. NYC Pride March

Showing her true colors…Cyndi Lauper serves it up as Grand Marshal this year at the NYC Pride March! YAY! The first march was held in 1970, and has since become an annual civil rights demonstration. Over the years its purpose has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those we have lost to the illness, violence and neglect.
