WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) — A teenager faces second-degree murder charges following a deadly stabbing in southwest Wichita.

Officers were called around 9:50 p.m. Sunday to an apartment complex at South Richmond Avenue and Wildwood Lane, not far from Wildwood Park.

“Prior to their (officers’) arrival, a disturbance had taken place at one of the apartments between two males,” Sgt. Chris Marceau told KAKE News on the scene. “One of the males had been cut.”

The wounded person, identified as 32-year-old Tyreece Walker, was pronounced dead at the complex. The victim’s sister said Walker was a transgender woman.

On Monday morning, police said a 16-year-old suspect was booked for second-degree murder. His name was not released.

This was the 10th homicide in Wichita in 2016. (via kake.com)
