70s Punk Riot Grrrls “The Slits” New Album
Legendary punk band The Slits are gearing up to release their first new full-length album in more than 25 years.
‘Trapped Animal’ is due out in the US on October 6, and will mark the 30th anniversary of their 1979 debut ‘Cut’. The album’s first single, ‘Ask Ma’, will be released in August.
Although the band have been touring live since 2006, it will be the influential punk band’s first studio album since 1981’s ‘Return Of The Giant Slits’.
The band’s current lineup features original members Ari Up and Tessa Pollitt along with Hollie Cook (the daughter of Sex Pistols’ drummer Paul Cook), Anna Schlute and Adele Wilson.
A book about the band, ‘Typical Girls? The Story Of The Slits’ by Zoe Street Howe, is also due out this autumn.
