Watch: Courtney Act Falls For A Skater Girl In “Kaleidoscope”
Courtney Act just sent me her brand new EP Kaleidoscope, along with sun-bleached video where she plays a girl who falls in love with a skater girl she meets while strolling along Bondi beach in Australia. It’s all very beautifully shoegazey, except we all know that Courtney identifies as gender fluid, which in turn gives the imagery a more powerful message of love having no boundaries or categorizations. The single (of the same name), which was co-written by soulful gay icon Sam Sparro, pays homage to the current gender and sexuality revolution being heralded by today’s millennials. Check out the video below, and download the Kaleidoscope EP on iTunes, with three remixes from Aussie DJ Tanner Derby, UK DJ Jodie Harsh and US DJ Dirty Pop.
“I love creating stories that push limits”, says Act. “I aim to confuse. Having identified as a gay man most of my adult life, the last few years I have realized that both my sexuality and gender are fluid. This has been so liberating for me because I never fit into the binary of man/women or gay/straight anyway.”
