“I started doing drag as a therapeutic way of dealing with sadness because a broken heart left me blue… oh, and because I was getting college credit for it. I had gone to the head of Pace Performing Arts and complained about the absence of a drag major, being that drag is the hardest performance art there is. So, instead, they let me create an independent study called Iconography In Queer Performance. It basically allowed me to get college credit for going to the clubs in drag ‘for research’. Through it, I constructed Mr. He- a play on mystery- hoping I’d fit right in with my drag cisters the HausOfFemAnon.

I told the head of PPA that I’d study my biggest inspirations and generate as much material as possible (via the club scene), using John Cameron Mitchell’s process of creating Hedwig as an example. Parker’s (my real name) biggest inspirations being Mickey Mouse, Santa Claus, and Jesus Christ…while Mr. He’s are Pee-wee Herman, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and anytime Lady Gaga publicly refers to herself as Joanne.

By the end of it, I was contacted by Susanne Bartsch for a party, accepted into the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics to perform at the famous La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, had been approached by MTV for a project, and created a musical that would end up going on tour after I graduated called Urinal Hole. Long story short, it was the craziest 4 months of my life! Now, I use drag to focus on politics/social issues as an attempt to make sense of things like the election, the Pulse shooting, and how Azealia Banks managed to kill so many chickens in her apartment for years without us knowing.

Upcoming projects: I have a theatrical staged musical performance coming up in NYC…Down The Urinal Hole And Around The Corner– a revamp of the queer cult horror that we took on tour this past summer.”
