About:

“I am Venus, and I’ve been doing drag for the last two years. My name comes from various reasons…I wanted to have a reference from astrology, as I am a strong believer of it…and androgyny, as it is part of my day to day life, a name that allows me being anything I choose to be… a she, a he, an it. Venus represents two faces of Daniel. The first one is the face of strength and empowerment that I needed at a very dark time in my life and the reason why I even had the courage of trying drag for the first time. That feeling was so strong and powerful…I kept it as my personal mark! It is inspired by women that don’t really fit social standards and qualities that are not expected from women- the ones who take the lead, the ones who own their word, the ones happy with their skin…the ones that fall and stand up 10 times stronger. My mom is the closest reference I have for what I want to represent with that side of my drag…something I recently discovered while making a self-analysis…finding that she is everything I was describing when talking about my drag. The other side of my drag represents Daniel’s darkest moments, feelings and emotions…vibes that are not necessarily bad but vibes that need to be transmuted and become light… nothing better than relieving emotions through art and creativity. I go for what is different, awkward, ugly, creepy, nostalgic, subjective! Channeling these energies is kind of like a self-therapy for me. At the time of performing, I am always wanting to tell a history. I create a background from the character I am showing and then I start to connect all pieces together. I don’t like to limit my drag to only lip-syncing. Something I really go for is exploring my ideas and show what I feel like. I sing alive, I dance, I make films as show openings. For me, it is very important to feel I am free and doing what I love and that is the feeling I have when I impersonate Venus.”
