“As the only son to a second-generation Catholic, Chicano family growing up in the 90’s, concealing my sexuality seemed to be a matter of life and death. Riddled with anxiety and the constant feelings of inadequacy, I turned to drawing and painting to escape my machismo reality.

Fast forward a few years to a teen honing his skills in the studio arts, I was eventually drawn to body painting and makeup as an alternative medium. Shortly after graduating high school, I began working for a reputable makeup company which was known at the time for its innovation and artistry.

After a tumultuous coming out to my family, a few failed lie-based relationships, and a short stint of substance abuse, I eventually discovered my preferred therapy…drag…and my therapist Lola Rose!

Five years later, my dad is one of Lola’s biggest fans. I am living my truth and I am happy to share my journey and the magic of drag.

For me, the transformative art of drag and gender expression through makeup artistry is a transcendent experience that has awarded me the strength, courage and confidence I needed to survive. Drag saved my life and I hope that my story and art can help bring light and inspiration to others searching for their truth.”
