“My name is Addison Rose Vincent (they/them) and I’m a proud, nonbinary, transfeminine person! I was born in Canada and raised in Michigan, but I moved to California when I was 17 to come out and live authentically. While attending Chapman University in Orange County, I came out as gay in 2010, then as trans and nonbinary in 2013. That Fall semester, I was the first openly trans or nonbinary person to rush for a Chapman sorority, and the following Spring I was the first openly trans or nonbinary person to compete in the Delta Queen pageant on campus (I won Miss Congeniality!). After graduating with a BA in Peace Studies in 2015, I went on to serve several organizations advocating for LGBTQ+ people, including the Victory Fund, Los Angeles LGBT Center, TransLatin@ Coalition, Strength United, and APAIT. I currently serve as the Founder & CEO of Break The Binary LLC, the Co-Founder & Co-Director of History Reimagined, and the Interim Executive Director of the Nonbinary & Intersex Recognition Project. In my free time, I teach ceramics at POT in Los Angeles, and spend quality time with my husband Ethan (he/they) and our dog Stevie.”
