“Shequida is Jamaican-born, studied opera at Juilliard, and has a five-octave vocal range. Shequida was the first full-time drag character on national TV… playing the role of Wendi Mercury on the long-running ABC TV soap opera, One Life to Live. Shequida was also the first queen to make it to the top 20 on America’s Got Talent. She wrote and starred in two Off-Broadway shows which played in NYC, Berlin, and Athens. She also played the lead role in the opera Vera of Las Vegas. Shequida was the first international drag performer to perform in Tel Aviv. Shequida has also been involved in the opening of countless bars and clubs like Bartini, Industry Bar, Roxy, Club USA, XL, and Hardware, to name a few. She is currently directing, hosting, and MCing the Voss Events holiday show SANTA’S SECRET in Hudson Yard…as well as hosting Drag Wars Mondays at Pieces Bar, and The Shequida Show at Hardware Bar Thursdays.”
