Thanks to generations of HIV/AIDS and queer activists who came before them and advancements of medical science, Sexton gets to live a normal life as an HIV-positive person. They would like to note that medication is only the first step of healing, some of the deepest wounds come from reclaiming our power from our own internalized stigma and shame. Sexton wants to live by example that even if you’re from a small, rural farming town, you can chase all your dreams and live proudly and unapologetically as yourself.”
