Fāy Ludes

Age: 41

Location: Kansas City, Missouri

About:

“Fay Ludes is a psychedelic stoner auntie, with a love for the color orange and all things 60s and 70s.
Drag started for me in Chicago, but my roots are in the San Francisco Bay Area where drag is ingrained in the culture. I grew up with photos of drag queens and club kids on my walls in the 90s but never thought I’d be the one in drag. I’m passionate about performance, community, vintage style, and travel; drag has been the perfect outlet! Drag gave me the space to explore my gender, come to terms with my sexuality, and fully love and accept myself for who I am.

I’m incredibly proud of all I’ve accomplished, especially as an out and proud lesbian drag queen who has had to kick down a lot of doors and prove people wrong to get where I am!

From the start of my drag, I have always found ways to travel. I never wanted to be known in just one metro area, so it is common for me to go on tour; including two UK tours with a third coming up in October! When Hamburger Mary’s Chicago (where I was a show director) closed, I bought a vintage RV and toured cross country for a year, performing from Florida to California and back. It was one of the hardest things I’ve done, but I made lifelong friendships, saw the beauty (and ugliness) in this country, and learned how to find peace within myself. After that,

I landed at Trixie Mattel’s bar This Is It, where I hosted and produced shows for 14 months.

I recently made the jump to Kansas City, where I’m the weekly Friday night show host at Missie B’s– a queer bar that has been around for almost 30 years.

I may be 41, but I’m not stopping any time soon! Drag is my passion, my full-time job for years now, and my life. I’m gonna keep hustlin’ til the wheels fall off!”
